Herbert Gladstone, Liberal Member of Parliament for Leeds West
The youngest son of William Ewart Gladstone who served as Liberal Member of Parliament for Leeds West from
1885, writes to his constituent, George Edward Emerson ( 1859-193 9), joint proprietor of a boot arid shoe manufacturing
business in Leeds that later supplied boots to Kaiser Wilhelm's army well before the Great War.
Provenance : Retained by the recipient and his family, and latterly held by great nephew Dr Patrick Reid FRPSL.
