                    Mrs Gladys Murdoch, widow of Charles Townshend Murdoch (1837-98), Conservative MP for Reading
                    By 1882, Buckhurst House was occupied by Charles Murdoch, and was so until his death in 1898, his widow
                   continuing to reside there until 1928. After a period being occupied by an order of nuns as St.Anne's Nursing and
                    Convalescent Home, the house was purchased by hoteliers, and later lmown as Hilton St. Anne's Manor Hotel.
