COMPETITION 1822-1830 York - First Voyage
BlackXLine Double Letter
Economic conditions and ocean hazards caused some packets to
sail under more than one company flag. The York is one of these
packets. She first served as a charter to the Black X Line, making two
voyages; with the Blue Swallowtail Line from 1826 until 1832; and
the Red Swallowtail Line in 1833 making two voyages as a charter.
The exhibitors data base referenced on the title page shows that the
majority of line to line movement occurred in lines serving London.
