                             Economic  conditions  and  ocean  hazards  caused  some  packets  to
                            sail  under more than one  company flag.  The  York  is  one of  these
                             packets.  She first served as a charter to the Black X Line, making two
                            voyages; with the Blue Swallowtail Line from  1826 until  1832; and
                            the Red Swallowtail Line in  1833 making two voyages as a  charter.
                            The exhibitors data base referenced on the title page shows that the
                             majority of  line to line movement occurred in lines serving London.
