This recut was issued on the 27th February 1868 and is known used with codes: C, D, E, & H.
The scarcity value is the same as the original hand stamp 'A' common.

Above you can see a small envelope with a lOp surface printed stamp dated 16th August 1868 with the code 'F'.
It is posted to Switzerland lOp being the rate for 112 oz in weight. Also on the front is a red P.D. paid to destination
which was either applied at Folkestone or Dover? There is a copy of the reverse above as well which shows a DoveJ
date stamp so I believe the P.D. was applied in Dover. Why the envelope was sent to Dover when it was posted in
Folkestone I do not know maybe there was an earlier dispatch from Dover and that is why it was sent there.
Please also note the blue crest printed on the envelope with the letters CC in the middle, from an important family I
am sure. The envelope originated in Sandgate as can be seen by the Sandgate date stamp of the 16th August.
