This was recut from the original hand stamp then issued on the 8th November 1858. It is recorded used between the
19th April 1859 and 6th December 1860. It has a scarcity rating ofD scarce.
Above you can see an example of this hand stamp on a ld red posted to Preston and dated the 13th September 1860
and it is showing the code letter C.
TYPE VIII 2Nn RECUT
This was recut from the above hand stamp then issued on the 10th January 1861. It is recorded used between the
16th November 1861and21st July 1862. It is not as rare as the original hand stamp so has a scarcity rating ofD.
Above you can see an example of this hand stamp on a block of 4 1 d reds paying the 4d postage to France.
It is dated the 9th June 1862 and it shows the code letter.
