TYPE B original

This was one of three Type VIII hand stamps issued to this town on the 1 ih October 1857.

Here you can see an example of this hand stamp on a pair of 4d surface printed postage stamps paying the postage to
Naples in Italy via Genoa. It is dated 29th January 1861 and shows the code letter L.

TYPE B recut
This was the only recut of this hand stamp and it was issued on 30th April 1862. This is a very common hand stamp.

Above is an example of this recut stamp on a 4d surface printed stamp paying the postage to France. It is dated
30th June 1864 and also shows the code letter L. I have recorded it used up m1til January 1868.
