PENRITH TYPE II BLUE & BLACK
This hand stamp was issued on 7th September 1855. I have recorded it used in blue ink as well black ink.

Above you can see a cover in black ink dated 13th January 1857 and cancelling a 4d postage stamp to France.
Also there is an example on a small piece which is cancelled with blue ink and dated 22nd January 1857.
This is the only recorded example in this coloured ink. You can see that the dates are only 9 days apart.
YARMOUTH-NFK TYPE II BLUE INK
This hand stamp was sent on 9th December 1856. It is seen mostly used with black ink.
I have recorded blue ink used between 31st December 1856 and January 1857 very short period.
This example is dated 31st December 1856 the earliest date recorded in blue ink. Why the blue in was used I do not
know but it was only for a short while so maybe the black ink run out and the ink for back stamps was used.
