                                         NOTTINGHAM TYPE A original
This hand stamp was issued on 1st January 1855. This office used both a green ink and a blue ink. During all of
this period black ink was also used though you see less black ink than you do green ink.
                                                         GREEN INK

This coloured ink was either a wrong mix of ink or maybe after many years exposure the ink has changed to green.
It is seen used between March 1855 and December 1856.

This example is dated 1st July 1856 and is one of many strikes in this dirty green colour.

                                                           BLUE INK
This colour was seen used between February and July 1856. This is the rarest of the inks used. I have no idea why a
blue ink was used as they are a true blue colour. Maybe for a short while the ink being used run out and this was
the only one available at the time and may have been the ink used for receiving mail.

                                            I
                                            '
                                          ...{.

Here you see an excellent example dated 24th February 1856 and showing the code F one of the commonest used.
