5.2 ERRORS, MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND MISUSES –BYPOSTAL AGENCIES

ERRONEOUS CANCELLATION OF REPLY PART AT INITIAL MAILING OF THE DOUBLE CARD
A very common error on the postal side was the cancellation of the stamp or incipium of the reply part at the
time of initial mailing of the double card. Reply cards that received such treatment caused confusion since a
cancelled stamp was considered invalid for use by both postal clerks and customers.
