BATH TYPE II
TYPE A Original
This was the first of three Type II hand stamps to be first and was issued. It was issued on 20th February 1855.
Above you can see two examples of this hand stamp. The first is dated 9th August 1855 and is on a mourning
envelope posted to India. It is seen canceling a 1 Op and a 1/- embossed stamp and is showing the code letter 'F'.
These stamps are scarce on cover especially the 1 Od embossed postage stamp. The second strike is on the normal 1 d
red paying the inland postage. It is dated 6th February 1856 and shows the code letter 'J'. Note the hand written Id
this is for the redirection to London the fee was paid but no stamp was added on this occasion.
