Here is another example of this very rare office. I have given this office the rarity rating G as so few strikes
are known to me and I might add to most people who deal in postal history.
Although the strike of this hand stamp is rather poor it is seen on a 1/- green embossed and a Id red postage
stamp paying the postage to Florence Italy. The date I believe to be March 1856 and it shows the code inverted B.
A small office such as Sheerness would not have carried such high value stamps so the 1/- embossed postage stamp
would likely have been bought from a larger office, the letter then posted in Sheerness. The numbers of strikes I
have seen of this office are less than six therefore to find one cancelling such a high value postage stamp could
make this cover unique.
