This town was a port across the So lent from Portsmouth and it was issued with just the one TYPE Il hand stamp.
It was issued on 12-09-56 and received no recuts and is seen used between Oct 56 and 12-02-58.

This is quite a scarce strike and is shown above on a registered letter to Ostenholt Gem1any. The rate is 1/2d
made up by the registered fee of 4d plus lOd for the postage rate via Belgium.
A single strike was used to cancel both postage stamps, this was contrary to regulations and each postage stamp
should have been cancelled by the obliterator part of the hand stamp.
There are so far three codes recorded used with this stamp they are B,C and none. The strike above is dated
18-11-56 and uses the code 'C'.
