DOVER TYPE II

This town received just one hand stamp which was issued on 10-10-55 no recuts were done.

Here is a lovely strike with code letter 'A' ~
and dated 14th November 1857. Also on the \ ~
                is a Town-Wall-St U.D.C. in blue. ~

Another fine strike this time canceling two
2d blues and it is dated 12th October 1857.
This time the code letter 'C' has been used.

                                                      / u/?-·z,A?

This final example shows the hand stamp used
to redirect a letter to Dover. You can see that
the ld was first paid in London and cancelled
with an 1844 obliterator. A second stamp was
added to pay for the redirection and the duplex
has cancelled both 1 d reds. It is using the code
letter 'C'. It is dated 18th July 1857 but is seen
only on a piece not a full envelope.

There are no other codes recorded used and it is recorded used between 05-11-55 to 12-11-57.
