This was the only sideways duplex to be issued to this town. It was issued on the 1st January 1855.
This is a very rare hand stamp with a scarcity value of "G" as I have seen very few examples.

Here you can see an example of this very rare hand stamp on a small envelope to France. It is seen on a 4d surface
printed stamp, this is only the second time I have seen this hand stamp used on a surface printed stamp the other
example being in the Postal Museum. It is dated the 8th November 1855 and shows the code letter "B".
I have recorded a latest date of 3rd January 1860 so it was in use for 5 years quite a long time even though I have only
seen a few exarnpies. I have recorded code letter A to D and none though I have not seen all of these codes.
