                                                       BRENTWOOD

                                                    TYPE II green ink
This was the only sideways duplex issued to this town. It was issued on the 10th October 1855.

                                                                  ·,
                                                         ~ ~ : .... · ... · .

Here is an example of this hand stamp on a P.S.E. in green ink. It is rare to see this hand stamp in green ink and I
have only recorded it used between June and December 1856. This strike is dated 4th June 1856 and has the code
letter "A". I have also seen this hand stamp in blue ink but only a part strike on a Id red stamp.
I have only seen the code letter "A" used with the green ink.
                                                     TYPE II black ink
As this town sideways duplex is difficult to find I have not seen a huge number, and as yet I have not seen any strikes
in black between the months I have recorded the green ink being used. This is not to say they do not exist.

                    ..

This example in black ink is also seen on a P. S.E. which is dated i 11 April 1856 and shows the use of the code letter
"B''. Although I have not seen the black ink being used during the recorded period of the green ink I have recorded it
used both before and after the use of green ink. I have recorded code letters A to D used with black ink.
