Even more rare Type II hand stamps.
WOODBRIDGE
Issued on the 31st March 1857 this hand stamp has a rarity rating of F rare.
It was in use for eighteen months but I have seen very few examples.
Two strikes of this hand stamp can be seen above; the first dated 1st June 1857 is shown on a piece. There are four
1d postage stamps but only the first of them has the sideways duplex been used. As it was Post Office regulations
to cancel each stamp with the obliterator the single obliterator was used to cancel three of the stamps and the
duplex used only on the first stamp so that the date stamp can be clearly seen. The second example can be seen on
a small envelope dated 21 June 1857 using the same code B.
