This original hand stamp was issued on 24th March 1857 .

An example of this hand stamp dated 27th January 1860 and is seen cancelling a 4d postage stamp.
As you can see the stamp was stuck on the left side instead of the right. Because of this the stamp has been
cancelled with the obliterator and the date stamp has been struck on the right avoiding striking the obliterator.
The code in this hand stamp is XA. I have recorded no other pair of letters and they appear only in this hand stamp.

TYPE Via recut
The recut hand stamp was issued on 14th December 1860.

Here you see an example ofthe recut hand stamp on a 2d and 4d postage stamp paying the rate to Switzerland.
It is dated 27th March 1861 and has the numeral code 2. Numeral codes being usual in London hand stamps.
