                 This Type VI hand stamp was unique to London~ the original hand stamp was issued on 24th March 1857.
































                An example of this hand stamp is shown above dated 25th May 1858 and is cancelling a II- postage stamp.
                The item was posted to a Captain on H.M.S. Niger?  Singapore. This is was a rare destination for this time.

                                            This 2nd recut was issued on 22nd August 1859.

             This 2nd recut hand stamp is dated 3rd June 1861 and is seen cancelling a 6d lilac postage stainp. The 6d rate was
            paying the pestage-to India. Codes in these hand stamps were normally numbers but occasionally letters were used.
                  One example of each is shown above, the top one shows the number 1 and the other shows the letter X
