5.1 ERRORS, MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND MISUSES –BYTHE POSTAL CUSTOMER
UNNECESSARY FRANKING
The misjudgement of the validity of the foreign franking most often led to the habit to affix extra postage in the
country of mailing. This ultimately led to the circumstance that the reply card was double franked.
Cuban double card 2x2 Centimos. On receipt the card was marked «P.O.N.Y.» (Post Office New York) «Paid
all», erroneously cancelling the incipium. Then the card was mailed back to Cuba and unnecessarily franked
with an extra 2 Cent US stamp. The question part only shows a faint Cuban marking.
